Mais Peças for Solo Marimba
"Mais Peças" was written as an encore for my solo recitals. However, in essence, it is an etude designed to work on shaping and inflection with the 1234-243 permutation.
Two of the pieces I have kept in my hands for encores or clinics is Michael Burritt's "Prelude No. 5" and Daniel Berg's "Over the Moon." They are both wonderful and fun to perform, but I wanted to begin writing my own works for the instrument. I finished this piece after returning home from performing in Recife, PE Brasil this past August (2018). This was my second trip to this beautiful city and, during this return trip, I was able to see many more parts of the region. The title is generated from this idea.
